Principal
David Dammarell is a Principal and Co-Founder of Liberty Capital (LC) and its private Family of Funds. David serves day to day as Managing Director of Liberty Capital Real Estate Opportunity Fund I. Prior to launching Liberty Capital Mr. Dammarell served as Co-Owner and Vice President of Liberty Financial Group, a regional private mortgage bank headquartered in Bellevue, Washington. Thru six plus years in the traditional lending industry he achieved honors by being ranked in the top 25 loan originators for national lender, First Horizon Home Loans and partnered with Mr. Benthin in originating more than a quarter billion dollars in residential lending.
Before pursuing the lending industry David attended school at the University of Washington. Following his education there he worked as a fund raiser for multiple startup companies seeding their early financing rounds by securing more than $11M in angel investments. His success in fund raising opened the door to become a relationship manager with Venture / Incubator Startup Academy where he helped facilitate and manage the strategic planning of over a dozen ventures backed startup companies. David’s final venture before starting in the lending industry was a partnership with Northstar Capital, a currency hedge fund with offices in Bellevue, Portland, Great Britain, and Dubai. His eleven years of experience in financial markets include market research, fund raising, strategic planning, portfolio management, project syndications, and fund management.
Principal
Tyler Benthin is Principal and Co-Founder of Liberty Capital (LC) and its private Family of Funds. Tyler serves day to day as Portfolio Manager of Liberty Capital Real Estate Opportunity Fund I.
Mr. Benthin served as Co-Owner and Vice President of Mortgage Banking at Liberty Financial Group, a regional mortgage bank that funded over a billion dollars of residential homes loans per year from 2005 thru 2007 and was acquired in 2008. Beginning in 2003 Mr. Benthin partnered with Mr. Dammarell and built a high volume residential mortgage practice originating over $250 million dollars of loans over 5 years. Through this success Mr. Benthin solidified numerous industry relationships that yield many opportunities to invest in real estate as well as a network located in the Puget Sound area that adds value to his daily role to manage Liberty Capital. Since launching LC, Mr. Benthin has overseen the funding of over $50MM in bridge loans as well as the acquisition of over 70 properties since its inception.
Over the last 11 years, Mr. Benthin has specific industry experience in residential lending, money management (held Series 7, 63, and 66 licenses with UBS), portfolio management and raising private capital. Mr. Benthin graduated from the University of Washington with a BA in Business Administration.
Rhett Bordner
Principal
Rhett Bordner is a Partner at Liberty Capital and its Family of Funds. Mr. Bordner serves day to day as the Chief Financial Officer of Liberty Capital Funds. Prior to joining Liberty Capital Mr. Bordner worked as the interim Chief Financial Officer for Magic Rock, Inc., a film distribution company headquartered in Pasadena, CA. Mr. Bordner was retained by Magic Rock to drive the strategic direction of the company related to capital funding, client acquisition and joint ventures along with control and manage the company-wide budgeting and forecasting process. Previous to Magic Rock Rhett was an equity partner and Executive Vice President of Finance for Sonoran Capital Partners, a private equity and real estate development company based in Tempe, Arizona. While at Sonoran Capital Mr. Bordner managed multi-million dollar asset purchases and real estate development deals while establishing financial management controls to ensure cash flow resources were available for operations, investments and continued development.
Mr. Bordner has a successful entrepreneurial background in start-up ventures, fund raising and growth of early stage companies into profitable entities. He co-founded and raised capital for two New York software start-up companies and directly contributed to double digit sales growth for five consecutive years at both companies. While EVP of Finance and Business Development at Secure Symbology Inc, an anti-counterfeiting software company, Mr. Bordner was instrumental in securing and managing Joint Venture relationships with Fortune 500 companies, including a JV Partnership with C.H.P.S (formerly Cardinal Health). Mr. Bordner has worked in finance managerial roles for over a decade including: raising capital, strategic planning and investor relations all while controlling the daily finance operations and reporting of each organization.
Mr. Bordner graduated with honors from Arizona State University with a BS in Finance. He is the co-author and co-inventor of numerous patents and patent-pending applications related to software, technology and business methods.
